SIZING

VERSACIKNITS patterns are based on the following set of body measurements. Each specifies the amount of ease that the garment is designed to have.

ABBREVIATIONS

This is a list of the abbreviations commonly used in VERSACIKNITS patterns.

approx = Approximately

beg = Beginning

BO = Bind off

CDD (centered double decrease) = Slip 2 sts together knitwise, k1, pass slipped stitches over the knit st

CO = Cast on

dec = Decrease

dpn = Double pointed needle

est = Established

inc = Increase

k = Knit

k1-tbl = Knit one through-back-loop

k2tog = Knit 2 sts together

LT = Left twist. With right-hand needle behind left-hand needle, skip one st and knit the second st in back loop; then insert right-hand needle into the backs of both sts (the skipped st and the second st) and k2tog through the back loops. Slip both stitches off the left-hand needle.

M1 = Make 1 stitch by making a backward loop over right needle

M1L = Make 1 stitch, left slanting. Insert left needle from front to back under the running thread between the last st worked and next st on left needle; knit into the back of resulting loop

M1L-p = Make 1 stitch, left slanting. Inserting left needle from front to back under the running thread between the last st worked and the next st on left needle; purl into the resulting loop.

M1P = Make 1 stitch purlwise. Insert left needle from back to front under the running thread between the last st worked and next st on left needle; purl into the resulting loop

M1R = Make 1 stitch, right slanting. Insert left needle from back to front under the running thread between the last st worked and next st on left needle; knit into the front of resulting loop

M1R-p = Make 1 stitch, right slanting. Insert left needle from back to front under the running thread between the last st worked and the next st on the left needle; purl into the resulting loop.

p = Purl

ssk = Slip next 2 sts one at a time knitwise, transfer stitches back to left needle, then k2tog

ssp = Slip next 2 sts one at a time knitwise, transfer stitches back to left needle, then p2tog through-back- loop

St st = Stockinette st

St(s) = Stitch(es)

tbl = Through back loop

WT = When indicated in the pattern bring yarn that is in back of work forward/ bring yarn that is in front of work to the back; slip next st; return yarn to original position, thereby “wrapping” the slipped st; turn. On subsequent row, when working a st that has been wrapped, slip the st to the right needle, use the left needle to pick up the wrap, slip the st back to left needle and work the wrap and st together as one st.
