Knit flat, from the bottom up and seamed, essentially, the Mitts are 2 large swatches, each of which has a thumb gusset (placed in 2 different places). The placing of the thumb gussets means that when you wear them and hold your hands next to each other, you can see the full STEPWISE pattern.
In addition, the Mitts are wonderful way to use up leftover yarn from previous projects or your favorite fingering weight mini-skeins. The mitts use 200 yards of the main color, 75 yards of the contrasting color and 25 yards of 7 additional colors!
